Week 2 Reading Reflection

Reflection Post

1.     The biggest surprise during the reading is to find out that in American alone there are about 600,000 business start-ups a year.
2.     It is a little confusing to learn that all gazelles die eventually. To my understanding these companies just change from gazelles to another type of business, but its interesting to learn that a company can not stay as a gazelle.
3.     If I could ask two questions of the author the first would be if you had one recommendation to aspiring entrepreneurs what would it be? The second questions would be what is the number one failure you see in most entrepreneurial ventures.

4.     There was nothing along the chapter that I disagreed with. For the most part everything seemed pretty straight forward and logical.

Reflection:

The task of listing 20 things that bug me appeared to be easy at first, but ended up being relatively difficult. Obviously there are several small nuisances that bother people, but most of which are hard to think of on the spot. Typically things that bother you are based off reaction and situation rather than your actual dislikes.

My Entrepreneurship Story

Throughout my life I have been exposed to a multitude of different entrepreneurship ventures, but one stands out among the rest. A few months ago, I was searching for a job opportunity in Gainesville and ran into an position at a new student housing development, called The Ridge. I have been working there for a little over 4 months and everyday is a learning process. There is a constant series of trial and error and a constant need to adapt to new situations and challenges. It has been a great experience and has exposed me to a few of the obstacles of a real estate entrepreneur.

I took ENT 3003 mainly because it was a class required for my major, but also due to the fact that I wish to be an entrepreneur myself. I am an extremely ambitious person and hope that this class will help me along my path to becoming a successful entrepreneur. Maybe if i'm lucky one day i'll be the owner of a new student housing development with one of my employees writing about how they’re learning from my work in this class 20 years from now.
